Proportion - Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Mango Labs ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Proportion mobile application ("App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

Proportion has no accounts and no purchases. We never ask you for your name, email address, or any other personal identifier. The App does, however, send diagnostic and usage data to the third-party service providers described in Section 5.

2.1 Diagnostic and Crash Data

When the App encounters an error or crashes, a report is sent to our error tracking provider. It contains:

• Crash reports, error messages, and stack traces
• Device model, operating system, and operating system version
• App version and build number
• Device language and region settings

2.2 Usage Analytics

The App sends anonymous usage data to our analytics provider so that we can understand how Proportion is used. This includes:

• App lifecycle events (opening, closing, and backgrounding the App)
• Screens viewed and navigation between them
• Taps and other in-App interactions, including session replays and tap heatmaps, which record the App's own screens
• Device model, operating system, app version, and screen orientation
• An anonymous device identifier generated for analytics purposes, which is not linked to your identity
• Approximate location, such as country or region, derived from your IP address

Because session replays record the App's screens, the values you type into the calculator may appear in this analytics data. We use them only to understand how the App is used, and we never associate them with an identifiable person.

2.3 Data Stored Only on Your Device

App preferences and settings are stored in your device's encrypted storage (Expo SecureStore) and are never transmitted to us. There is no cloud sync and no backup of your data to our servers.

2.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do NOT collect:

• Personal identification information (names, email addresses, phone numbers)
• Precise or GPS location data
• Contact lists or device contacts
• Photos, videos, or other media files stored on your device
• Browsing history or web activity outside the App
• Payment or financial information - the App has no purchases or subscriptions

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and Maintain the App: Deliver proportion calculation services and App functionality
• Improve User Experience: Understand how the App is used to enhance features and usability
• Error Tracking and Debugging: Identify and fix technical issues to improve App stability
• Comply with Legal Obligations: Meet legal requirements and respond to lawful requests

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not build advertising or marketing profiles, and we do not carry out automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 On-Device Data

Your calculations are performed entirely on your device. We do not keep a record of your calculations on our servers, and the App does not synchronize your data to the cloud. Any preferences the App saves are held in your device's encrypted storage.

4.2 Data in Transit

All diagnostic and analytics data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections using industry-standard TLS.

4.3 Data Retention

• On-Device Data: Remains on your device until you uninstall the App or clear its data
• Crash and Error Data: Retained by Sentry according to their data retention policies (typically 90 days)
• Analytics Data: Retained according to Vexo Analytics' data retention policies

5. Third-Party Services

We share data only with the service providers listed below, and only so that they can process it on our behalf for the purposes described. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.

5.1 Error Tracking (Sentry)

To identify and fix technical issues and improve App stability

6. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

6.1 Access to Your Data

• Preferences stored locally can be reviewed and cleared through the App and through your device settings
• For diagnostic or analytics data, you may request information by contacting us using the details in Section 10

6.2 Data Deletion

• Uninstalling the App deletes all locally stored data
• You can also clear App data through your device settings without uninstalling

6.3 GDPR Rights (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights:

• Right to Access: Request information about your personal data
• Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data
• Right to Restrict Processing: Request limitation of data processing
• Right to Data Portability: Request transfer of your data
• Right to Object: Object to processing of your data

Our legal basis for processing diagnostic and analytics data is our legitimate interest in keeping the App stable and improving it. To exercise these rights, or to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, please contact us using the information provided in Section 10.

6.4 California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• Right to know what personal information is collected
• Right to delete personal information
• Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

8. International Data Transfers

Your calculations stay on your device. However, the third-party services we use (Sentry and Vexo Analytics) process diagnostic and analytics data on servers that may be located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. These providers have implemented appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Posting a notice in the App (for significant changes)
• In some cases, providing additional notice through the App

Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

12. Additional Information

12.1 Data Minimization

We collect and process only the minimum amount of data necessary to provide App functionality and improve the user experience.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share data only with the service providers described in Section 5, and only with appropriate privacy protections in place.

12.3 App Permissions

The App uses the following permissions:

• Internet Access: Required to send diagnostic and analytics data and to check for app updates
• Network State: Required to determine online and offline status
• Vibration: Used for haptic feedback when you interact with the calculator

The App does not request access to:

• Location services
• Contacts
• Camera or microphone
• Photo library
• Calendar
• Other sensitive permissions
